Ruins of Daedalus’ Labyrinth
Thai-born, Los Angeles-based artist Nuttaphol Ma weaves a tapestry of myths, dreams and reality to tell a story about migration and survival.  For his forthcoming solo exhibition at the Armory Center for the Arts, Ma intervenes the Mezzanine Gallery to construct a decayed labyrinth based on a heroic couplet written by the artist entitled Ruins of Daedalus’ Labyrinth.  Ma employs threads and yarn to figuratively cannibalize Daedalus’ Labyrinth only to leave the space its skeletal remains.  Within the ruins, Ma carves multiple passages to unveil fragmented texts of the couplet.
