Art as Action :  Art is Action . conversations moderated by Angels Gate Cultural Center
Angles Gate Cultural Center (AGCC) hosts a lively conversation entitled “Art as Action : Art is Action” as part of a series of discussions that explore past and contemporary ways that visual media has or can be used to bring awareness to particular issues that impact our community.  The conversation will explore the issues presented in the Community Gallery and the Main Galleries I and II.  The Community Gallery features Solitude to Solidarity: A Journey of Our Collective Consciousness, a partnership with LAANE ( and inspiring work of Beatriz Rios-Nava, a port truck driver from Compton who chronicled her day to day experience with photo-camera snapshots to tell a story of her path to become a union truck driver.  The Main Gallery I features works by Fausto Fernandez with members of the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters and the Pile Drivers Union 2375.  The Main Gallery II presents works by Audrey Chan, Alexandra Grant, Nuttaphol Ma, Wura-Natasha Ogunji and Sergio Teran that explore concepts of love, loss, growth, light and dark that are part of our collective narrative and human condition.
