“The Sea Keeps Gravity from Falling: Conversations about Poetic Resistance through Rituals, Gestures, and Movements”
I’m super honored to be speaking at the Milwaukee Artist Resource Network (MARN)! As part of my capacity as a visiting artist (MARNSalon3), I present an artist talk entitled “The Sea Keeps Gravity from Falling”.
Through storytelling of past and current performances in forms of rituals, gestures, and movements, I will hold a virtual space for meaningful dialogues with communities at MARN and beyond to unpack the process of using our bodies, actions and words as medicinal herbs to deliver a sense of potency when speaking about resilience, place, memory, and personal history. The session concludes with a deepened conversation on how to harvest an earnest voice to cultivate seeds of creative intentions that respond to our unfolding socio-political moments.
